The Count´s Resident
The Count’s Resident, was made for the count Ulrik Fredrik Gyldenløve, stadtholder and owner of Larvik county. The Old Town Bridge
The first bridge here was built in 1681, to provide easy access from the city to Kristiansten Fortress. The current bridge was designed by Carl Adolf Dahl, and erected in 1861. It is known to locals as “The portal of joy”.

Kristiansten Fortress
The fortress was built after the great fire of 1681, and offers fantastic views of the city and its surroundings. During WWII the Nazi authorities executed members of the Norwegian resistance here. The Archbishop´s Palace Museum
The pre-reformation home and administrative centre of the Norwegian Archbishops. In 1983 a fire destroyed two large wooden buildings in the Archbishops’ palace. A new museum was erected in their place, housing many of the most spectacular finds from the archaeological excavations on the site. Here you’ll also find the reminds of the Archbishop’s mint.
