Hiking to The Sugar Top (Sukkertoppen)

From the top there are superb views of Ålesund, against Godøya and out to the sea.

Sukkertoppvegen road starts at the roundabout in Hessaskaret. Follow the road westwards until you find the sign where the trail starts to the right just after nr. 22. The path is graveled in the beginning and continues as a trail true out the forest. Trail is clearly marked by sings to the very top, but keep in mind, that it can be a bit muddy when it’s wet. You are past half the way when passing the transmitter mast.

GETTING THERE

Head west from the center, over Aspøya to the island Hessa. Then follow the road around Skarbøvika, before it rises up to the roundabout at the primary school. There you can park.

ACCESS BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

There are frequent buses from the bus terminal in Ålesund towards Hessa. Check routes on frammr.no
