Perspektivet Museum

At Perspektivet Museum, our core concerns are human beings and the world we live in: locally and globaly. A visit here means a meeting with art and artistic expressions, alongside cultural history and traces from our own time.

About us
Visit our two exhibitions on the author and painter Cora Sandel/Sara Fabricius (1880–1974). She is best known for her novels about Alberta, a young woman from a small northern town, with a life-story not unlike the author’s own. You’ll encounter historical objects, visual art, literature, and comics. Listen to excerpts from the artist’s letters or explore her collection of photographs and archive materials whilst surrounded by her own paintings, objects and books.

In the exhibition Time Travel Tromsø on the ground floor, you will encounter photographs that were once exposed on heavy glass plates, but also images that have been created digitally. They are taken by professionals and amateurs, and together they take us on a journey through time through the museum’s photo collection, and Tromsø, from 1870 to the present day.

While a number of important infrastructure projects – roads, tunnels, the Tromsø Bridge, the airport, UiT and UNN – have been crucial for the city’s existence, Tromsø’s community is created through lives lived. The football matches we play, the concerts we attend and the hikes and skiing trips we go on, weather be damned!
