Fjellskål – The Norwegian west coast’s premier seafood destination
For nearly 50 years, generations of fishmongers have shaped what would become Fjellskål – Bergen’s premier seafood destination.
Founded by brothers Øystein and Ragnar Fjellskål in 1976, this family-run business began as a small stall at Bergen’s bustling Fish Market. Today, Fjellskål has grown into a must-visit landmark, combining a modern seafood restaurant and an authentic fishmonger under one roof, right by the harbor.

Here, the menu follows the rhythm of the ocean. With over 80 species of seafood available; from king crab and wild scallops to halibut, lobster and salmon – every dish is crafted from the freshest catch of the day. Guests can enjoy their meal while overlooking the water, or stop by the counter to bring home the same ingredients used by the chefs.
After nearly half a century, Fjellskål remains a living part of Bergen’s story – a place where tradition meets taste, and where every bite carries the flavor of Norway’s coast.
