The Ibsen Museum’s presents the Norwegian playwright and poet Henrik Ibsen, who was born 1828 in Skien and died 1906 in Arbins gate 1, Oslo. He is recognized as the founder of the modern drama, and alongside William Shakespeare, he is the most performed playwright in the world.

The museum’s main attraction is Henrik Ibsen’s home in Oslo. Here he lived the last 11 years of his life and wrote his last two plays. The apartment is now restored to its original splendour with authentic interior and Ibsen’s furniture. The museum’s visitor center features an exhibit on Ibsen’s life and writing.
